The Center for Interdisciplinary Applied Mathematics and Computational Sciences (CIAMCS) was formed in 2008
to promote and facilitate interdisciplinary research and education in applied mathematics and the computational sciences at the College of Staten Island. A major goal of CIAMCS is the enhancement of the links between mathematics, engineering, and the sciences. The center brings together a wide range of university faculty and students, and promotes activities including faculty collaboration, student mentoring, undergraduate research, and large-scale scientific computation using the supercomputer at the CUNY High Performance Computing Center, located on campus and operated by the College of Staten Island. In addition, with support from the CUNY Initiative for the Theoretical Sciences, CIAMCS plans and promotes a series of
symposia in topics in applied mathematics.
The director of the center is Professor Andrew Poje: 718-982-3600.
